Inkylicious Fun !

Hi Everybody,
Firstly I apologise for being absent again, I have been trying to keep up with commenting but I know I haven't managed to get around to everyone's lovely blogs.

As I have mentioned before I have been having health issues for a while now (18 months of sticking my head in the sand :() but finally have the answer to why I am so tired all the time yet dont sleep more than an hour at a time at night, I recently had to do a sleep study at the hospital being monitored over 2 nights and they have diagnosed me with severe sleep apnoea....the consultant said to me that I am one of the worst he has ever seen as during the monitoring on average I stopped breathing 47 times per hour !! To be honest I have been wondering how on earth I am still here considering the amount of time I have been feeling awful now.
Anyway I am being given a machine to keep my airways open at night so that hopefully I can get a decent sleep and not be so tired during the day and to tell you the truth I am just relieved it isnt the big 'C' as I was beginning to think it was. I am now on a strict diet so wish me luck lol...I'm a chocolate addict so I'm going to struggle with that !

Well if you are still with me after all that waffle I do have a card to show you .... I ordered some Inkylicious stamps with some of my birthday money recently and they arrived at the weekend so I had a play with one of them...

I was quite pleased with it although it turned out a bit more 'tropical' than I meant it to lol, I find ink blending quite hard I have to admit. I just cant get a good technique going using the foam applicators on bigger areas so I use the Inkylicious Duster brushes now which I find a bit easier but I still tend to use hammered/textured card as I have done here. More practice is definitely needed and I have a few more new stamps to try out so you will be seeing a few more inky cards from me this week hopefully.

Thank you so much for looking today and I'm off to do some more catching up on your lovely cards !
Hugs,
Kaz xx

Morning Kaz, I'm glad to hear that you have now been diagnosed and hope the machine helps you. I have a friend who has been using one for several years and it has changed her life so here's hoping. Sorry about the chocolate but if you will feel better it will be worth it I'm sure.

Your card is beautiful and the colours look beautiful. I look forward to seeing your new stamps appearing. Barbxx

How gorgeous is this card Karen, love it, beautiful sponging.
Re the sleep apnoea, I have it too, but mine is now controlled without machine as I lost 20 kilos. I am currently on a chocolate ban, self imposed as weight starts to creep on every so often cos it's my major downfall.
Admittedly mine wasn't extreme but do find sleeping raised on pillows also helps with my type of apnoea. I wake up each time it stops as I am a very very light sleeper.

The sleeping raised helps stops the air passages closing, too. I have an electric bed and if it is a bad night, which happens when overtired, I just raise it a bit more.
They don't ever tell you that at the sleep clinics though, they make money from the machines...maybe I'm just really cynical.

I learnt thiat I no longer needed the machine when on a protracted stay in hospital during end of time I lost weight. I went to Weight watchers to do it. I keep up my daily walking regime ( can't do lots of other excises but can manage walking) to help maintain it.
Hope some of this helps, Karen. Pray for you on weight loss as its not easy, but it can come off the way it goes on little by little.
Like craft it needs patience and persistence.
Hugs,

Love the scenes you've created, just lovely. I'm sure you'll start feeling so much better now you have your CPAP machine. Dad was diagnosed with it back in the 90's and he too was one of the worst cases his consultant had seen, I'm sure it was something like 63 times an hour. Mum was so relieved when he was diagnosed as apparently she had a fear that she'd end up giving evidence in the Coroners court saying, "but I thought he'd start breathing again, he normally did!". Dad finally lost weight in 2008 which cured him, mind, he did it by having bowel cancer so I really wouldn't recommend that technique! I hope you start to feel more energetic soon. Cara x

Hi Karen

Ahhh ... bless you .. .. putting up with all of that for so long. Thank goodness they have got to the bottom of it for you.

I hope the machine is going to work for you..

Shame about the chocolate ban but needs must I suppose! I must admit we enjoy more savoury things (which are probably just as bad for you). In fact we still have two huge boxes of Thorntons here from Christmas.

Anyway, round to your gorgeous card! I love it!! Such great colours and I am loving the reflection look!

Take care and I hope you get some much needed sleep soon.

Love Jules xx

Hi Karen,
oh this card is gorgeous, and your inking is super and I love your wonderful scene you have created.
Not easy to create the water images but you have done it wonderfully.

Re your sleep apnoea my hubby had that quite badly too.
He used the machine to sleep for 1year and it cured him and he doesn't have to use it anymore.
So hopefully this will be the same in your case.

I too sleep very badly, but I suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome, and usually get just a couple of hours sleep most nights.
I had to retire from work early beacause I was always tired in work.
I quite often craft at night when I am suffering.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
